Ok, guys. I happen to be in the neighborhood for an electronics expo down on Zakera Ward and figured I'd drop a public notice that I'm available for cybersecurity and consulting work in the time I'm here (gotta make the vacation pay for itself if I can), and a heads-up to some friends of mine that I'm gonna be sticking around for a week or so before leaving for Omega. If you guys wanna do anything or get together or whatever, I'm game. I need to get my mind off some crap that's been going down back home lately, and as it turns out, most of my friends just happened to end up here since the war. Figure it's as good a time as any to have some actual fun for once.

No hacking jobs - cybersecurity only. I am on the Citadel. Let's not piss off C-Sec Cybercrimes quite yet. Oh, and CDNers get half-off my usual rates. Just sayin'.

It was all the rage back when I was a kid (you guys were still relatively new to the galactic community at the time, so there was a bit of interest - pretty sure this was before the shitstorm in the Skyllian Verge kicked up in earnest), and I picked a few things up. Ever since the break-in, my home security system has never really been able to function properly. It's prone to all sorts of technical hiccups and I'm worried it's going to fail on me at the worst possible moment.

I'm not sure much I'd have to pay, but I should have enough for an inspection.

Do you know how to do that? Because if you do, you're doing a better job than I am. Seriously, I haven't gotten anything done since we first heard the news from Sur'Kesh. I mean, you mentioned drinks, and I've been trying it. I've always heard that it helps. It doesn't. It just meddles things up even more. Or maybe I'm not drinking the right stuff.

I had a colleague, you know, back when I booked holidays? His daughter was in an accident on the way to school; she survived, but he started drinking hard. He would come into work and he just wasn't up to it. Lost his job in the end, and I thought - why is he drinking like that when she *didn't* die? It really bothered me. I always thought it was the fact that something had been, I don't know, broken in him. That he had this bubble of protectiveness around his family and he didn't realize how artificial it was. And his awareness of what might have happened, even though it didn't, that had sort of forced him to burst through that bubble and it was now just hitting him that the universe wasn't a safe place. He had seen the bigger picture, and he knew he could never really protect his daughter the way he'd tried to. That all he could do was watch. That and drink. Does that make sense?

I thought we all faced that with the Reapers, that they'd burst the bubble for everyone, and there wasn't anything left that could hurt like that.
