Quarian born with functioning immune system
Sarris’El vas Rannoch, Rannoch Herald Less than two months after conclusion of the first post-war elections, the unified people of Rannoch have reached another historic milestone: early prognosis indicates that Spera’Tal vas Rannoch, barely a day old, will live the rest of her life without the confinement of an envirosuit. Named after the Khelish word for ‘hope’, Spera’Tal was born without complications after an eight-month period of examination and in-utero therapy from the Rannoch Division of Special Projects. Subsequent tests revealed that her baseline allergic reaction to nonsterile substances was only slightly inferior to a turian’s. “Nothing I could say would do justice to this feeling,” said Maia’Tal vas Rannoch, fresh from maternity decontamination, at the Special Projects announcement this morning. “To know that my child will grow up without the problems that plagued the quarians forever, and that a whole generation will follow her...considering what it means for our people, ‘Spera’ was really the only name we could’ve chosen.” Special Projects member Raeda’Carr vas Lemwill, head of the research team behind Spera’Tal’s development, extolled both the scientists and the tech that made the project possible. “None of this would have been possible without a united Rannoch,” she stated to the press, alongside Executive Researcher Telesis. “Our expertise and technological prowess, along with those of the geth, have made it possible for us to someday leave these suits behind, and for future generations to never need them at all. Through the geth, we can clearly see the future of the quarian people.” Admiral Quorum, representing the Admiralty at the presentation, declined to comment beyond stating that Carr’s assertion was ‘demonstrably correct’ and that Spera’Tal’s birth was ‘an historic occasion for the people of Rannoch.’ Presslink News Aggregator: Collecting headlines from across the galaxy. Yes, yes, you're a jealous, broken little girl (What were you exiled for, by the way? Murder? Rape? Worse?) who simply cannot deal with the fact that the Quarians and Geth have, in fact, reconciled and is intent on being a huge bitch about it. We realized. Jealous? Why would I be jealous of a bunch of cowed little child murdering slaves that, judging by some of the comments in this very thread, have already been indoctrinated? Don't make me laugh. And broken? Never. As for my exile? They stabbed me in the back and I merely returned the gesture. TechOptryx said:

I pity your children. Because now instead of throwing them out into the galaxy to fend for themselves. You are handing them over to a bunch of synthetic monsters. All because you people are so weak-willed you are willing to do anything to get these suits off. |

We get it, you hate quarians, moving on. Good for the quarians that aren't Lady-Broken-Record. I guess the next thing to do aside from making sure the immune system thing works for the kids is trying to fix the adults, right? I take it that's gonna be harder than using the krogan method and spraying it into the sky like fairy dust?

The man has some impressive commitment to extranet derision, you can't deny it.

Not necessarily mutually exclusive - they're not enforcing this on anyone, just providing the option. You can respect a person's right to chart their own course and still offer them aid, cooperation. My old social evolution tutor at the academy would've asked whether not doing so wasn't equally denying that person's freedom, to choose to accept your help if you offered it.No surprise I'm the cheery optimist though - I'll freely admit, I shouldn't be in charge of security for anything, for exactly that reason. Still... I remember, when I was at school, and the academy, meeting visiting quarians, wearing just the bio-screen field packs they used to use to get around safely off Rannoch and the eco-safe colonies, and later on thinking those days were lost to history. Such a strange, wonderful thing, to see how what was lost can be found again. ...mind you, that brings the quarian species one miracle closer to eventually putting us here at Envirometrics out of our primary area of business - but if that happens, it'll be awful hard to be annoyed about it. :) ![]() |

Honestly, this in of itself is a lot of good.
The geth are doing a good thing by offering the help. Nobody is forcing people to accept it. And maybe Pariah's children will get the chance to go through this procedure for their children. It's not their fault that their mother is a stubborn person. It's not their fault she's an exile. It is amazing to think that within my lifetime, quarians will be walking suitless on Rannoch. Perhaps before I even become a matron. Music is life (Avatar credit goes to the wonderful Asari_Promiscuity.) |

If there was ever a statement open to interpretation... This might be good news, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's something more going on here... At least where motivations are concerned, anyway. |

I'm just surprised it's "Rannoch" though that might have something to do with privacy. After the initial thrill of "Vas Rannoch" wore off, a lot of quarians started either going back to ship names or using the names of whatever area they settled in. Some of them still keep "Rannoch", though.

...This is fantastic.
I'm actually rather stunned by this. Considering how long it's been since the quarians managed to get back to Rannoch, it speaks bounds about the future for them if they can start making leaps and bounds like this. Granted, it'll be a long while before the majority of quarians have fully functioning immune systems, but it's a wonderful milestone.
