HEY! You! All of you! Look here! (Wiki Project)

Following: A wall of text (read it all), and something that might interest anyone who's bored or in need of inspiration.

So, for anyone whose not been paying attention to the top of the Forum, there is now a shiny new link for the CDN wiki.

I am introducing myself to those-out-of-the-loop as one of the three wiki admins, and I'm going to give you all - yes, all sixty some of you - a project.

See, I've been in the process of slowly cleaning things up on our lovely wiki, but I (and the other admins) have come to realize that it's messy, and getting messier. There's a whole lot that needs to be fixed, updated, and standardized. That's where you come in.

550+ pages is a lot of stuff. A lot of stuff.

Hence, the Wiki Adoption Project!

So, the plan:

Anyone interested/bored/looking for some inspiration/wants to help is going to contact me, either in this thread, by old board PMs or on IRC (I'm there as Ni or Niamh). I will then assign that person FIVE wiki articles.

Those five wiki articles are going to be updated to new style standards. Each volunteer gets a copy of the style guide, and when they're done, they let me know and request FIVE more articles. If you are new to wiki editing, not a problem - it's easy, there's plenty of tutorials and help offered, and anyone can learn (I'm tech illiterate, and I can do it.). Don't have a lot of time? You can take on one page, instead of five. Once they're all done - hopefully in a couple of months - I'll have a shiny new homepage made up.

That's the first part.

The second part: Before you say "I'm done! Moar plz!", you would be tasked with expanding those articles. I encourage - and challenge - anyone interested in this project to world-build, archive-dive, and to go a step further than all that, I want you to talk to the players involved. Were you assigned Abad Sam-mel's character page? Then I want you to go bother Abad (now TechOptryx) and get him to spill all the details of his character. Are you working on updating the article on Dynasty Maker? Bombard the The Sarcastic Salarians (Aphin and Spiza) with questions. Your job is to essentially become an expert on the pages assigned to you.

Open dialog. Make a new friend, and get some inspiration.

Count me in. I've been a bit out of the whole wiki business so far but let's change that!

As it may have been evident lately, I feel strongly about giving tools to future new players to get into CDN, and this is a part of it. So hit me.
Also if it's not the norm yet, I strongly advise to always include the member's portfolio when there is one, for obvious reasons.

Style question, are we using usernames instead of character names for page titles now?

Username (Actual Name)

To clarify, I think that means CharacterUsername (Character Real Name). Player name would go somewhere in the infobox. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Okay then, can someone figure out how to get it to not capitalise and strip out underscores in page titles? I Googled the question but it seems technical, and so far I've managed to avoid that sort of thing.

I view it as a way to encourage proper capitalization and spacing in usernames!

actually I have already observed that a lot of people will go to "their" wiki articles and do some cleanup on their own.

This is great because it will make life of random wiki volunteers much easier and will most likely speed up the process.

Updated the Character infobox template. Adjust accordingly

For all those interested, all the articles from the old Cerberus Daily News Feed are now on the wiki.

EDIT: So are the Alliance News Network mod-made articles.
