LONDON - SATAE officials have today confirmed that a body found by construction workers yesterday in Administrative District 02 is that of Second Lieutenant Carlos Suarez, a decorated Marine who received the Navy Cross during the Reaper War.

“He was an...inspiration to a lot of us, came up through the ranks, didn’t forget what it was like being a...grunt on the ground, never asked more of the men than he was willing to give himself.” Stated Gunnery Chief Al-Musawi in an interview with the Post. “He got us through the...War, he got us through London, and to just die here, like this after all that. As tensions rise between Alliance marine detachments based within the city and independence-minded groups such as the Citizens for a Free Earth and the Democratic Solidarity Party, the Prefect of London, Lieutenant Commander Lisa Bryner, held a press conference earlier this morning urging calm and restraint on both sides. “I ask that everyone allow the Investigative Service to conduct their investigation and bring Lieutenant Suarez the justice he deserves. The last thing London needs is more violence.”

Thus far representatives of the Systems Alliance have declined to comment on the condition or state of the body when found giving strength to rumors that the killing had been ritualistic in nature. When pressed for an official statement by the Post a spokesman for the Prefect’s office said that “the investigation was ongoing” and he did not have the authority to comment on the situation further.

Sympathy to his unit. I mean, you go through the war, losing friends and then you get to the end and think thank fuck its over. And then this happens.



Yeah, I'm with Saints here. Suarez had been awarded the Navy Cross. That's the second highest medal the Alliance gives out. They don't just hand them out.

This guy was a war hero, basically. And someone killed him.

Sooo, speculation. Who wants to guess why this HONORED WARRIOR was killed at Earth's proverbial lightning rod? My suggestions:

Some Sovereign Nation wannabe wants to make a statement of Earth's finest warriors
A SATAE Patriot wants to start a separatist argument and targets someone on his own side to mask the culprit
A separatist wants to pick an argument and picks the worst possible target to bring people to his side
This Paragon of justice had a big gambling debt with someone who's unafraid of SATAE
An amazingly elaborate suicide scheme
A drinking game gone horribly, horribly wrong
[Insert alien species here] did it

Every goddamn marine that fought in that war is a hero and everyone who thinks they can make a point be killing off one of them is rotten to the bone. I hope when justice is served the alliance won't go easy on whoever it was.
And this is what cought my special attention. Hopefully these rumors are unsubstantiated bullshit and there isn't a reaper cult going round in London. A warhero would make a nice sacrifice for those "Sons of Sovereign" or "Followers of the Mechanic Gods" or any other collection of reaper worshippers.

Now the thing that is interesting here is that he was found alone. I find it unlikely that Marines would be alone in a ruined city on a planet that protests their presence.

I think the ritualistic shit is about 50/50 BS or Legit. If true, it could be actual Reaper Cultists or someone trying to cover their tracks.
