Marine Found Dead In London Ruins
by Bridget West, Union Post LONDON - SATAE officials have today confirmed that a body found by construction workers yesterday in Administrative District 02 is that of Second Lieutenant Carlos Suarez, a decorated Marine who received the Navy Cross during the Reaper War. “He was an...inspiration to a lot of us, came up through the ranks, didn’t forget what it was like being a...grunt on the ground, never asked more of the men than he was willing to give himself.” Stated Gunnery Chief Al-Musawi in an interview with the Post. “He got us through the...War, he got us through London, and to just die here, like this after all that. It isn’t right. It isn’t right, he deserved better.” As tensions rise between Alliance marine detachments based within the city and independence-minded groups such as the Citizens for a Free Earth and the Democratic Solidarity Party, the Prefect of London, Lieutenant Commander Lisa Bryner, held a press conference earlier this morning urging calm and restraint on both sides. “I ask that everyone allow the Investigative Service to conduct their investigation and bring Lieutenant Suarez the justice he deserves. The last thing London needs is more violence.” Thus far representatives of the Systems Alliance have declined to comment on the condition or state of the body when found giving strength to rumors that the killing had been ritualistic in nature. When pressed for an official statement by the Post a spokesman for the Prefect’s office said that “the investigation was ongoing” and he did not have the authority to comment on the situation further. Well. That's...
Sympathy to his unit. I mean, you go through the war, losing friends and then you get to the end and think thank fuck its over. And then this happens. Taleeze wrote:

Yeah, you do of course, I was just ranting. It's a shame when people can't focus on constructive things now. Yeah, I'm with Saints here. Suarez had been awarded the Navy Cross. That's the second highest medal the Alliance gives out. They don't just hand them out. This guy was a war hero, basically. And someone killed him. How is not constructive to talk about wht happened to him? And lady, you're on a extranet forum. How is that constructive? First Sergeant Natalie King, 2/4th Marines |

Sooo, speculation. Who wants to guess why this HONORED WARRIOR was killed at Earth's proverbial lightning rod? My suggestions:
Some Sovereign Nation wannabe wants to make a statement of Earth's finest warriors A SATAE Patriot wants to start a separatist argument and targets someone on his own side to mask the culprit A separatist wants to pick an argument and picks the worst possible target to bring people to his side This Paragon of justice had a big gambling debt with someone who's unafraid of SATAE An amazingly elaborate suicide scheme A drinking game gone horribly, horribly wrong [Insert alien species here] did it Forgotten Daughters Foundation - [CLICK HERE to donate to the OTRAVO RELIEF FUND] Emon Spiza, owner of Aphin's Place - Level 31, Zakera Ward. Every goddamn marine that fought in that war is a hero and everyone who thinks they can make a point be killing off one of them is rotten to the bone. I hope when justice is served the alliance won't go easy on whoever it was.

And this is what cought my special attention. Hopefully these rumors are unsubstantiated bullshit and there isn't a reaper cult going round in London. A warhero would make a nice sacrifice for those "Sons of Sovereign" or "Followers of the Mechanic Gods" or any other collection of reaper worshippers. "With the first link, the chain is forged. Wait, wait...
Reaper cults? Like, idolizing the coming extinction of all life? This is a thing? Even after said Reapers (presumably) lost? "In one dimension, I find existence. In two, I find life. But in three, I find freedom." |

Well, uh, they...didn't. They just sort of stopped attacking and went to go rebuild the relays.
And yeah. Reaper cults. Think "indoctrinated" without, you know, being indoctrinated. Freaks. Forgotten Daughters Foundation - [CLICK HERE to donate to the OTRAVO RELIEF FUND] Emon Spiza, owner of Aphin's Place - Level 31, Zakera Ward. Best Drinks on the Citadel. |

Lemme rephrase a little better. You know how in non-salarian wars, there are folks who snap completely and sell out their own side for pretty much no reason? Or that they think the other side's going to be lenient on them if they betray themselves, despite all evidence to the contrary? Yeah. People've acted like Indoctrinated before - it's just that they didn't have literal whispers in their head telling them to do it. That's Sovereign Nation for you - non-Indoctrinated lunatics that think the only way to move forward is to further the Reaper cause, never mind the fact that the Reapers, you know, stopped reaping. What the shrell!? What cockamamie idiot would be dumb enough to worship a giant, world-destroying squid robot monster... thing!? Seriously, that's like something out of a Mor Ortlo book or something. By the wheel and hub, I've heard some crazy things in my eleven years, but that... that takes the lily pad.
Wait, hold on. How do you know if someone's part of a reaper cult. I have... reasons to ask this question. |

Because the Reapers broke them. It is no more complicated than that. |

Uh, no. It's just easier to point at a species like yours, because doing that kind of thing in salarian society has a whole category of ulterior motives. You know, aside from simple point-blank betrayal. Your attempt to find me spouting salarian superiority is entertaining as always, though! My point was, why are so many peopele focused on destructive things, like mudering some thought-to-be enemy or going psycho cult on really weird stuff instead of focusing on something constructive, making this galaxy a better place? It was not meant to disgrace that killed marine. Of course this is news worthy. i was lamenting over the fact that such news even exists, not the relevance of this particular piece. I hope this is more clear. ![]() |

Not a Navy Cross winner as high as that is. A SATAE Patriot wants to start a separatist argument and targets someone on his own side to mask the culprit
ohhhh, that one would be interesting but unlikely. That kind of shit never stays secret (with humans at least) A separatist wants to pick an argument and picks the worst possible target to bring people to his side
That would be bold. And awfully inpatient. Probably this. This Paragon of justice had a big gambling debt with someone who's unafraid of SATAE
In London? That's unlikely given the massive presence still there even now. An amazingly elaborate suicide scheme
No idea about that one. A drinking game gone horribly, horribly wrong
That would be one hell of a way to go. [Insert alien species here] did it
I'll blame elcor for it then. Now the thing that is interesting here is that he was found alone. I find it unlikely that Marines would be alone in a ruined city on a planet that protests their presence. On the Move. |

That is pretty fucked up. Excuse my language, ma'am.
I think the ritualistic shit is about 50/50 BS or Legit. If true, it could be actual Reaper Cultists or someone trying to cover their tracks. More likely, I think its Separatists. Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names Ten Years Running. |

Ah yes, blame the separatists. Just like the rest of the Marines in this city who have chosen to show their discontent by beating up nationalists. I'm sure you've cracked the case for the Investigative Service. |

Darkly amused: In terms of physical ability, we are in fact the perfect suspects in a crime like this. Knowingly: I once saw a human killed by an elcor. Believe me, you would not want the body's condition splayed across the media in a case like that. |
