One thing has puzzled me recently. I had read that there was a Prothean beacon on Thessia that had been secreted away for ages, and wasn't brought to public knowledge until after the war. Citadel laws forbid concealment of Prothean technology, yet the founders of the Council had kept one to themselves, for untold amount of years.
Why has no one brought up attention to this? Is it because no one dares to raise a talon against the seducing asari, and rather gang up on salarians? |

I personally think that public opinion is biased due to a more protecting and forgiving stance towards women. Especially nice looking ones. It's probably why asari make such good diplomats.

Personally, I think that this needs to have more attention, regardless where it lay- Precursor technology is fascinating and offers insight into an age before our recorded history and is more important than Asari security. Did you not hear? Recovery teams found remains of a large Prothean beacon inside an old temple dedicated to Athame on Thessia. The asari had withheld Prothean technology to themselves. Who knows what might have been achieved if its data had been shared with others? Could it have helped the war effort? |

I'm actually referring to the fucking baffling response by Gokanong. Like, what the fuck is he going on about.

He's a krogan.
With a bad idea of context. Asari aren't women. The thought of gender is really bizarre to them-they get that it exists, but it's like our inability to really get monogender. Also, krogan ideas-like protective-ness of women hahaha-are not going to be a large part of CSpace public opinion. I mean, if someone tried to 'protect' me because of my gender... My personal theory is the asari get less hate because they got curbstomped during the war while the salarians came out pretty fecking close to pristine. It's easier to resent people who have more than you right now. But I'm no shrink, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Or a barrel.

The most disappointing thing about the beacon on Thessia, really, is that the asari aren't all that far ahead of the rest of us. They're a bit more advanced, sure, but given how long they've known about this thing (it was built right into one of their ancient temples, right?) they should be leaps and bounds.
It's a tragic waste, is what it is. Quarians with that kind of thing at hand? Or even salarians? Scary, sure, but also much more likely to actually use it properly and put the tech to work instead of letting it just... sit there. |

No, by all means, mind, because just think how much better the Reaper War could have gone if we (or even just the asari) been at the level of the Protheans hundreds of years ago. Losses still would have been horrific obviously since the Protheans fell, but we could have fought back so much more effectively, and kept so many more people alive - ironically maybe even kept them from reaching Thessia before Shepard did her thing. Not to mention maybe even known about and been able to prepare for the Reapers based on more than Shepard's word. With that kind of headstart the galaxy could have been well ahead of the Protheans by the time the Reapers arrived. Think about that for a few minutes. |

They kept it to keep an edge on everyone else. Why people aren't saying anything about it now...I dunno. Probably because it doesn't matter any more, and there are more important things to do than point fingers, like rebuilding the galaxy and count the dead.
But somehow, I get the feeling that a lot less people would've died in the war if the asari didn't hide it. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TechOptryx ![]() |
Oh it's obvious enough why they did it, and I can understand and sympathize with that. My problem is that they did it badly. They had an advantage for literally centuries, maybe millennia (seriously how old was that temple?) and rather than capitalize on it they moved as slowly as they possibly could and we all paid the price. The asari included. If I were an asari I'd be mad as hell about this, so you can imagine how pissed off I am as a quarian.
|

Again, I guess that everyone is too busy dealing with the whole fallout of the war to think about pointing fingers. Krogans' are looking at the future, quarians on settling down with the geth, and pretty much everyone else just rebuilding or trying to find loved ones. The blame can probably come later, but right now, everyone has too much shit on their plates to start thinking about that.
But I dunno, I guess one of the other reasons why no one's pointing fingers at the asari is because everyone had lost a lot, and thinking back on it still hurts a lot of people, asari included. I'm sure the matriarchs who were in charge of that are still mourning every daughter they lost in the war, and I guess that they're blaming themselves more than anyone is. Course, I could be wrong. I'm just a babysitter on Tuchanka who doesn't know shit. |
