ERCS Announces Expanded Horsehead Security Presence

Lenia Lokan, Enterprise Weekly

Port Hanshan, Noveria – Elanus Risk Control Services announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to increase its security presence around Noveria. “Given the recent upturn in piracy throughout the Horsehead Nebula, the Noveria Development Corporation has asked us to provide additional security forces within the Pax system,” said ERCS Senior Vice President Gaius Decius. “Noveria’s shareholders have become increasingly concerned about the risks to their operations,” he continued. “Along with the NDC, Elanus Risk Control Services hopes that these new measures will reassure our fellow corporations that Noveria is a safe, private place for business and research.”

ERCS has already been awarded a contract to rebuild and expand the orbital GARDIAN platforms that were destroyed by Cerberus forces during the war, but this new plan will double the total number of defense platforms. The security contractor has reached an agreement with the Port Hanshan-based Molurus Aerospace to purchase seventeen new starships and an unspecified number of drones. They plan to expand their planetary forces by adding three new ground companies.

The markets have reacted favorably to the announcement, with the stocks of NDC investors such as Synthetic Insights and Sorvel Dynamics gaining. “Noveria’s relative prosperity in the wake of the Reaper war has attracted unwanted envy,” commented Hyla Ludactyus, GM of Sar-Klon Genomics. “We appreciate the NDC’s efforts to safeguard the privacy of our operations.” Not all Noverian corporations have reacted positively to the news, however. "Piracy in the nebula has only increased over the last year because the pirates that were driven out by the Reapers are starting to return," said an unnamed representative of Cyanid Energy. "Pirate activity is actually lower than the pre-war average. The NDC is using a fluke in the piracy statistics to justify a baseless increase in rents."

Wow. Doubling the defense platforms. I wonder how much that contract was worth?
Going to definitely invest in ERCS now.

Bit late for that, I would imagine that their stock price has already spiked significantly. You really have to get in ahead of these things if you plan on making any profit. Typically that entails doing a bit of research on the people you're planning to invest in beforehand, not after the fact.

In any case, this is excellent news, all around.

Sandman, I'm still new at stock trading- I've only got a few investments. ERCS is a good one, though, right?
I expect after this they're going to have increased business and profits in the future. Even if I'm late to the game I could invest now?

...This hurts me in ways you can't begin to imagine.

Unless you're comfortable sinking a considerable amount of money into ERCS, which I would really not recommend at this point in time, I would say that you would be better off investing your credits in some income stock; a smaller, more stable company with higher dividends. Local utilities for example. If you're feeling bolder later you can always balance it out with some of the larger, more expansionary companies.

Typically speaking people like you, people new to trading in general, always want to have a stake in the flashy, big name companies right off the bat. Most of the time they have no clue what they're actually doing and their investments are ineffective or lose them money.

Want my advice? Start small.

Even if it is, that hardly means that the situation is wholly unprofitable.

Probably only happened cause ERCS has their HQ on Noveria. The guys in grey are good at static security, I'll give 'em that much but when it comes to kinetic stuff like anti-piracy? You've got the wrong bloody corp. Dunno why they didn't sign on the Suns or Eclipse for a contract to sort out the pirates and call it a day.

Are you saying it's just a bubble waiting to burst, Spiza? Other than that, that's the only explanation I can come up with. It is a rather nice bubble though.

Yet another reason to keep an eye on military and defensive endeavors post-war. A keen investor may wish to pay close attention to this "bubble," so to speak.

ERCS has a seat on the NDC; they'd hardly be willing to give money to a competitor when they can do the job well enough. There's not a huge amount of interest in the Horsehead for pirates to steal anyway. There aren't many inhabited worlds, and the nebula's too young for eezo.

Look, ERCS is good at what they do but the problem is what they do is static security. Give 'em a starport or a secure facility or any of that shit to guard, they'll do a bloody good job. Boarding actions, raids, kinetic-type operations that're the backbone of anti-piracy ops, that's not what they're good at. I'm not saying I think that even the Big Three could muscle in on the NDC, but ERCS isn't a good PSC for that type of job.

Fuck yes, that is seriously like, the best fucking thing ever. Accurate, versatile, barely any fucking recoil, and the best way to separate a yellowbelly from their head at a couple hundred meters away.

Seriously ERCS gear is the shit.
