Biography

Archibald Winthrop (Archie to friends) was born in England to upper-middle class parents. He showed an affinity for music in secondary school and began writing his own songs in university. His parents convinced him to go to med school, which he left after the first year for a life of being a wandering singer-songwriter. Despite being disappointed in him, Archie's family kept in close contact with him.

During the Reaper War, Archie found himself fleeing from hotspots like Omega and Sanctum before settling on the Citadel. He spent the war expanding upon his limited medical knowledge helping out in hospitals and with medical help in the field. The death of his parents hit Archie hard during the war and his being cooped up on the Citadel for months made him restless. Though still practicing the his music on the side, the war made Archie dive into medical studies once again. When the relays opened up again he parlayed his experience to become an assistant to a ship board doctor on a merchant ship.

Archie is a pacifist who attempts to reconcile his breaking with his beliefs during the Reaper War. After the war ended he became more convinced than ever of the necessity of personally avoiding inflicting violence on others. His reasoning being that the Reapers were almost violence incarnate and thus pacifism becomes a rejection of Reaper methods. Archie is often judgemental to those who don't meet his moral standards, though his own breaking of those standards during the war have caused him to mellow that somewhat. He still wakes up from night terrors because of war memories, but those have gradually begun to fade. Archie is determined to rebuild a life for himself, but simultaneously refuses to be tied to a single place.
